Dr. Giorgio Bellati

Graduated in Medicine in 1975.

He trained from 1975 to 1982 at the Medical Clinic III of the Polyclinic of Milan directed by Prof Nicola Dioguardi.

From 1982 to 1991 he played the role of assistant and hospital assistant at the A Division of Medicine of the Sant'Anna hospital in Como.

From 1991 to 1999 he worked as a helper at the Crespi Division of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan directed by prof. Gaetano Ideo, contributing to the development of the Liver Transplant Center.

From 1999 to 2019 he was first appointed Director of the Medicine Unit of the Sant'Anna Hospital in Como and then again in the same year as Primary Emeritus.

In 1980 he obtained the specialty in liver and metabolic diseases at the Policlinico di Milano.

In 1988 he obtained the specialty in Internal Medicine at the Polyclinic of Milan.

From 1999 to 2005 he did the teaching activity of contract professor at the School of Specialization in Liver and Replacement Diseases of the University of Milan.

The activity carried out covered both the internal clinical aspect and that of hepatological scientific research, at national and international level. In this regard it has carried out to date 325 scientific research publications, both clinical and laboratory, with works published in major national and international journals.

The main areas of expertise are virological ones (therapy of chronic hepatitis B and C, treatment of liver cirrhosis even in advanced stages, and liver transplantation).

Still in the field of hepatology, he participated as a teacher in 80 refresher courses. He has carried out 152 scientific papers in national and international congresses. He has organized 79 National and International Congresses. He has participated in 250 national and international refresher courses and congresses.

In the hepatological field he has collaborated in the drafting and execution of important national and international clinical trials.

He is a member of both the Italian Society and that of that. European for the study of liver disease.

In 2019 he was appointed Primary Emeritus by Dr. Fabio Banfi General Manager of the ASST Lariana. with the following motivation:
